Hopefully it means tissue repairs will continue to be taught to some degree. The bassini repair perhaps could be re evaluated as it seems to have merit

Hello Derek,
I’m in similar situation to you and I’ve been waiting 2 years plus. Since both surgeries can cause unwanted effects I’m not rushing to surgery.
I do favour tissue repair.
If you’re on Facebook try and find hernia mesh hurts too forum.
Hello Watchful, glad you’re posting again. Bit scared to ask this, and you may think it impertinent, but hows your recovery going?

Thanks both!
Good Intentions you’re right I got that forum id on the two discussions I tried to start, that’s why one is a news item and not discussion. Hopefully the spam issue can be sorted even more in future

Hello Good Intentions, is there any connection to hernia surgery? Any good Finish hernia surgeons?
Most sports people go to Germany for hernia repairs. Although Glen Murray’s failed and he went to Prof. Lloyd in England.

How much would you estimate the whole trip and opetation cost for the two week stay? If you don’t mind me asking

Actually the warning is about risk to structures that come from the abdomen and are in the hernia, rare. It says. Not sure if that would include bowel.
-
Thanks Good Intentions. I see what you’re saying. However I do remember reading the risks on a website of a hernia surgeon, relating to both mesh and tissue repairs, and it did point out there is a risk of damage to nearby strictures etc. I think that’s how it was termed.
-
Is it mesh surgery or tissue repair?
I believe there was a Dr Yunis patient who had bowel damaged.
-
One of the “selling” points of the Shouldice clinic was, when I enquired about that, they said you can always have a mesh repair if it fails. So hopefully the answer is correct. Especially hope so for jkt2 sake.

Actually spoke too soon…I still can’t start discussions and still getting blue box.

MemberNovember 2, 2023 at 12:49 am in reply to: Can an airport scanner detect a hernia ?I saw the hernia photo and did wonder if the genitals, or where you’d expect to see the genitals, was part of the hernia or poorly blanking/hiding/blurring of them for the photo to preserve dignity.
If part of the hernia yes huge. Or was it two hernias?
I’m sure I’ve read size doesn’t equate to symptoms necessarily..it’s possible to have a small hernia and troubling symptoms and conversely a large hernia without.

MemberNovember 2, 2023 at 12:45 am in reply to: How a lucrative surgery took off online and disfigured peopleI think you’re right Good Intentions. I was amazed companies were pushing inexperienced surgeons into complex, and what sounds like unnecessary and unneeded, hernia repair technique purely for profit.
I shouldn’t be amazed after gleaning similar reports on here from time to time, including your links, but I was still astounded.
Where’s the regulating boards?
Ethic committees?
Government agencies?I would have thought surgery and surgery methods were better regulated.
And you’re right it isn’t comfortable reading for anyone, myself included, considering surgery.

And what if it happened on way to another country for surgery? -
