Chuck replied to the topic High rates of pain with pure tissue repair? in the forum Hernia Discussion 2 weeks ago
Thx watchful. Hoping some kang patients can weigh in. Our friend pinto said he had little pain. Of course his hernia recurred. Kang himself says he sees little chronic pain. Of course Tomas says no pain for desarda. My issue is that I have seen lots of reports of pain with shouldice. From my doctors in DC. From a few studies. From reviews at…[Read more]

It seems like nearly everyone that has a pure tissue repair has some level of chronic pain. It may be nothing to mention as Mike m says. Or periodic like thunder rose says. Pinto is your kang repair always completely painless? Am my friends with pure tissue have some issue. Dead spots. Nerve twinges. Desarda is reported to be lowest risk of…[Read more]

I really feel stupid about selecting a lap repair…i cant believe i feel for it…the minimally invasive BS. All the stuff on mesh studies implied tissue repairs would be chronically painful and wouldnt last. Lap seemed so seemless..and then i bought the recurrance nonsense, Like any of these doctors would spend 5 minutes of their time…[Read more]

Thanks for your usual excellent analysis…I really wish you would join my FB natural health all stars page….this nonsense we run into in the hernia area pervades all of health care….its one big minefield and the only way to avoid it is to rely on super smart folks like yourself without an agenda. I have a bunch of folks like you on my…[Read more]

Pinto…lol give old Mike M a break. I am sure he meant no harm. Appreciate the great input of you both. Kang is still my top choice. I find it a little troubling that mike m still feels the hernia over a year after the surgery….but maybe that is just typical for all no mesh repairs….if i had known how hard a hernia is to fix…i would…[Read more]

every tissue repair surgeon i spoke with claimed 1-2 percent recurrance rate from tissue repair…Peterson Grishkan Tomas Kang. yet the todd HArris video i posted said that recurrance rates were in the neighborhood of 20 percent based on large studies. Voeller also advised that tissue repairs outside the shouldice clinic had significant…[Read more]

Chuck replied to the topic Best surgeon to fix recurring hernia after mesh removal? in the forum Hernia Discussion 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Very tough call – I hope watchful weighs in. Kang was quite confident he could fix my hernia no issue…… I almost went to him for the removal. I don’t know why I trust him but I do. It seems like the Germans mostly do Shouldice repairs –but Mike M still feels something a year after a Kang repair. While he says its nothing —it is still…[Read more]

And what did Conze say about your hernia —did he concur with Dr. Towfigh? Dr Kang says he can fix a hernia the size of a baby’s head —given that his technique is not as invasive and strong as shouldice —I wonder how that can be the case? its incredibly distressing that you did all your homework and still got screwed. Thanks for all you…[Read more]

The bottom line is if he couldnt use mesh —he couldnt work…like the criminal Voeller who pumped mesh on the net…then had his own hernia fixed at shouldice…sad

This guy doesnt even twitch when he says mesh is safe…so safe in fact that he doesn’t even warn patients – Sadly this is what they all told me. Chance of chronic pain 1 in 5000 said Dr. Carvajal. It makes me sad –I had my whole life ahead of me –vibrant health —about to retire –new girlfriend —and this bastard took it all away from me.…[Read more]

Conze appears to only have focused on hernias for the last 10 years…whereas weiss has been doing hernia repairs for 20. Maybe that shifts the balance back to weiss? It really was an impossible decision—I never thought i would have to fly to Germany for a routine surgery. I just don’t get how mesh can be the standard with all the issues that…[Read more]

Yea william —super tough call. Again my main advice would be to get the damn thing done soon. I tragically kept avoiding the surgery—everyone i know that gets a good result goes right after the hernia appears…go in get a piece of plastic shoved in open and go on with life like nothing happened. I think its easy to overthink this…and…[Read more]

I didnt go to shouldice for a number of reasons:
1. They were enforcing the death shot at the time
2. I didnt like that you could not pick your surgeon
3. I didnt like that they used stainless steel sutures
4. They were cutting the cremaster. Its frustrating that it appears that some of that stuff simply isnt true any more—its very…[Read more]

folks…zombied myself over the weekend reading everything I could about the German surgeons. It seems as if Conze and Wiese come out as to two top guys. There were some negative comments on here and elsewhere about Dr Koch…and Dr. Lorenze I just couldnt get that much information about, Please someone correct me if I am wrong but it seems…[Read more]

GI you crack me up. Not only are you extremely unhelpful but no paranoid too? David…I hear your brother. There are no good options. But Kang or Conze can probably handle your case. I would live with the hernia. maybe even die before i submitted to another lap mesh surgery —its pure hell. Like I said dont take my word for it…I can refer you to 6 others who got conned into that butchery and their lives are over…[Read more]
