Symptoms somewhat back stretched a little and did some Psoas stretches.Felt good, too good as the lower back release was so good I fell asleep lol. Just scraping up change(yes, iam that broke) to get to the ER and see what is wrong.

If it is OP fine..better than inguinal hernia recurrence and I can plan my return to school fall ’18 and try to move on with life.If hernias again….no choice for the same plan to move on.I will not have them fixed as when I work I do not qualify for any insurance let alone able to afford it.

Will post back when and if I find out at the hospital what the hell is wrong with me.

You know,as many on here have found out…I can live with the pain.I have had chronic back pain for 19 years now along with depression. But the psychological effect this hernia has had on me is the worst….

    Thanks for reading.

Did basic stretching for three days and the last two none. And the last two days I have been 95% pain free. Will continue the stretching next week.So I am really hoping it is a form of osteitis pubis. I still might go to the hospital….just gotta play it day by day and see what happens.

Symptom update: When I sleep and lay on the left or right side the pressure is worse and radiates to the front of the hernia incisions. But no pain really just pressure especially on the right side. And before I’d wake up and be able to tell if I have to urinate…now I can barely tell.

The back pain comes and goes.Gas can be really hard to pass but I do pass and have bowel movements.Testicles still get a sharp pain through them here and there but mainly having to pass gas can make them hurt. Incision areas are pain free.Pain I had on front of left thigh/leg is gone

But on the back of my left leg from the bottom of the buttock down to a little past the knee has a slight burn and only does so in bed when tossing and turning.Urination is normal.

Iam going to wait and see as I can’t go back to my job as a automotive mechanic as I do alot of heavy lifting changing out tires. In the meantime I need to find employment that is less stressful.Getting insurance means being unemployed to qualify…no thanks,I do not want to take that route unless it is very necessary (symptoms get very bad and such.)

All kinds of weird nerves/pains in and around the left incision area. Yeah I’ve been taking it easy since I lifted the garbage can. It all feels like the original symptoms and then some with the hip/back “ghost” pressure. I know my limitations after 8 years of repair which makes it hard to take if it is reccuring hernia(s).

That’s what makes it so depressing…..I was careful.
But,these things even happen being careful.

What iam curious about is why 33 days later to start the original type of symptoms? And earlier in the day yesterday I was fine I just had scar tissue “scratch” and my normal over stain symptoms…then I sit bent over stretched over and then …BAM!! full symptoms….oh well,we shall see.

A trip to Dr. Towfigh might be in my future.

I am not a doctor, but my advise is to get rest from aggrevating activities, indeed (possibly for months). Let the pain subside. Take anti-inflammatory. I personally prefer naproxen-Aleve for muscle injuries, which you can buy over the counter. If it doesn’t help then you should definitely visit a hernia surgeon preferably who is knowledgeable in the area of sports hernia. If no hernia observed then your option narrows down to a specialist in groin disruption repairs/sportsman hernia. Any hernia surgeon may give you cortisone (or similar) injection to reduce inflammation. Good luck.

Yeah, it looks as if I am going to have to go at some point. I woke up today with a slight burning that now is a sharp pain every 20-30 seconds on the front middle of my left leg. Sometimes it lasts a minute or so.

I think that only MD can answer these questions after examination. At some point doctors may want to order MRI. If you think that rest helps then try to rest and take some anti inflammatory.

MikeL thank you for your insightful reply. What you have posted has been in the back of my mind as well. I was sitting on a stool yesterday working on a friend’s car bent over for quite some time and then that is when I noticed that I need to get up and move around as my left incision was acting up.I stood up and the back pain hit me.The only thing I can think of is and I hope iam right is since I over exerted the hernia and it is still recovering it was more susceptible to acting up from the prolonged sitting position.

I was sitting on a stool changing out ball joints and front CV Axels. So not to high or low…just enough to agrivate it. And I do have some pain in the hip area from my heavy gym squat days….. probably arthritis (?)

What you describe is something similar to athlete injuries in groin and hip with no evidence of true hernia. They go together very often. Google Dr William Meyers. Many patients-athletes come to see him with hip/labrar tears/abdominal tears (aka sports hernia). It’s important to mention that order of surgical treatment of these areas is important. Typically, groin area is treated last. However, first you must make sure there is no true hernia. Also, possibly need to visit hip surgeon as well.

Also more gassy now as trying to pass gas gets “trapped” feeling.Left incision doesn’t really have pain…just feels “noticable” and doesn’t shoot pain straight through.Incision area and back act up at the same time. The strangest part is how the left hip area feels…no pain, but once again”noticable” just like the feeling there is light pressure applied.

Only thing I can feel is the plug on my right incision. But this is how my original symptoms we’re as well. The Dr. could barely feel anything in the inguinal canal and ultrasound/xray showed it.Which I guess at this point it is a watch and wait to see if symptoms reside….it has been 33 days since said aggravated activity and my body can take up to a couple months to chill out.

But I have a bad feeling about this.

IF……It is recurrence what is the procedure to remedy this?

Like anytime is a good time for this right? But at the moment this is really bad as I am to start school next fall and the waiting list to get in has been long.
Well, here is to wish full thinking and hope it is not recurrence.

Well, bad news I believe. A month ago I started a job at a no kill cat shelter and on my first day at the end me and a co worker lifted a big garbage can up into a dumpster. The kind with wheels on it.Heavy but not too bad. I ended up not going back due to other issues.

The next day I was sore all over which was to be expected. And when the general soreness went away I could tell I over strained my hernia. It felt like most overstrains: testicles a little sore, ab aches, lower abs tight. And it goes away usually in a month or two.

One month later I notice now on my left inguinal area last night it shot straight back through the incision area and a bad sharp pain in the back. And when I lay down it doesn’t hurt but it feels like light pressure on both incision sites/hip area/bone…like a hand applying light pressure. No lumps, bumps,or hurts if I push even hard all over. Testicle pain is a dull ache here and there and I can feel scratching from mesh here and there…no pain. Does hurt back and left incision area to bend though.

    My umbilical hernia is fine.

Really hoping it’s just strained bad and goes away.
    I am not working,no money,no health insurance.i could get state insurance:ACCCHS.

But feel hopeless as I do not know where to turn if it is another hernia.

    Please advise….thanks.

Dr. Procter, Thanks for the information.I think at this point I will move forward with exercise with caution. When I had the examination I qualified for a low income medical care called MISP in CA. where I was living at the time.
I saw a Dr. and was told I had approximately a year wait time until the operation as there were many people ahead of me. In the interim I researched and did not like what I was reading about the outcome as many people had symptoms that were bad. When I saw the Dr. who was to perform the repair he asked if I was planning to return to the gym.I said yes and his reply was that mesh was needed then.

My “problem” is I am very strong so it is easy for me to move up in weight in the gym.I was preparing for a competition and pushed it a tad too much. The worst part was the phycological effect on me.Being at the time the gym was my life I felt everything I worked for was gone.No more strongman/bodybuilding competitions.

Mixed with other personal issues at the same time I just disappeared from that lifestyle.

But it is not one you can give up as at least for me it runs in my blood.
I would like to thank you and Dr. Towfigh for providing this forum and insight.

And I wish all members on here who are not as fortunate as I am the best with their hernias.
I will continue to monitor this board as this is the best I have found.
    Once again thank you.

Mesh unlikely to move at this point. Typically after 8 weeks it’s relatively scarred in. Contraction of the mesh can happen over time to re-expose hernia(s).

Safe a time as any to get back in shape from a hernia standpoint. If it’s going to recur waiting longer won’t change anything.

If you were to have a bad outcome from a mesh based groin hernia repair, it should have happen by now.

By all accounts this is a successful repair.

The umbilical hernia may enlarge over time but if its asymptomatic you can see what happens with exercise. If it starts becoming painful, etc then you should see a surgeon about repair.
