Please Help – Advice Needed for Hernia Complications Causing Bladder Issues and Pain
I had inguinal hernia surgery with mesh in August 2016. The surgeon who performed the procedure went in thinking it was more femoral and then realized it was more inguinal. After the surgery I had a major hematoma and a great deal of pain and swelling. The incision was about 3 inches. I experience dull pain, stabbing pain, radiating pain down into my private area, itching, redness, a large area of surface numbness and fast forward to April of 2017 bladder issues to include pressure, frequency, and sometimes burning. The hernia site gets regularly inflamed with hardly any movement – like even basic yoga and walking up hills. I went back to the original surgeon and he dismissed me and told me to take Aleve and said being able to feel the very hard lump at the repair site is just because I am thin. I am 5’2″, 108 lbs . I just went to see another surgeon in the Asheville NC area today to get another opinion after 4+ months of PT has not made much of a difference. This Doctor is ordering an MRI and said during the exam that she could feel a mesh bunch where it feels hard and sore. So I am waiting to see what the MRI reveals Has anyone had a similar experience or are any of the hernia specialists on this forum able to advise me?? Thanks so much for reading and I am deeply sorry to anyone else who has suffered with this type of experience – it is brutal…

Agree with the MRI.
Many potential causes.The MRI will be very helpful. Report back with that data. Likely scenarios are recurrent hernia, meshoma (wadded up mesh) and unrecognized occult hernia.
