12 weeks post inguinal hernia operation- felt a pop in the repair site
Hello all
I recently had a right side inguinal hernia mesh repair on 3/1/19. (I am 28 years old, male, active). The operation was as a success and I was feeling great a few short weeks after the operation. My surgeon released my on week 2 for activity with pain being my guide.
I started working out lightly on week 6, and maintained that until now. I was feeling great, no pain and my Surgical area was feeling strong and stable.
This week(12 weeks post op) I was being careless and Did a back bend stretch and felt a pop in the repair site. There was no pain, just a pop (much like a popping tendon). Now, the past 3 days my right side feels off, almost as it did before the operation. It feels much weaker than it did in the past weeks, but still no pain. I have obsessively checked and tested the hernia site, and am fairly confident it is not a recurrence (but I will not know for sure until I see a doctor). I have seen accounts of others feeling a pop in the area to find that it was scar tissue breaking up or a mesh suture rupturing which turned out to not be an issue.
Obviously seeing my surgeon is the best path forward, but I was laid off from work the following week after my operation and have lost my full coverage insurance. Seeing my doctor is only an option for when I get a new job/coverage or if it is an emergency.
Has as anyone experienced this or have insight?
