• Mesh infection need advice

  Thank you to those who run this board!
  Basically…
  1/09/2019 had hysterectomy with ventral hernia repair. Biological pig bladder mesh was used. Had multiple PEs. 2 drains placed
  from 1/16 to 3/2019
  hospitalized 3x with infection, IV antibiotics, hernia reoccured, infected seroma, Wound vac placed for six weeks.
  7/08/2019 – hospitalized with infection, IV antibiotics, told I have abscess over mesh
  8/2019 – infectious disease dr says mesh needs to be removed. Original surgeon offers to fix hernia with more mesh and explore wound. I decide to get another opinion.
  9/2019 – hernia expert says mesh needs to be removed and he will close with stitches and fix hernias at later date
  10/2019 – 2nd hernia expert agrees with first. I schedule surgery with 1st hernia expert.
  11/2019 – 1st hernia expert orders CT scan – shows separation of muscles increased from 6cm to 8cm and he may need to use mesh to close.

  I am afraid of mesh to be used at same time infected mesh is removed. I am also afraid to wait because my muscles appear to be separating more. The ct scan called it abdominal dehiscence.

  Any advice or similar experiences greatly appreciated!
