Hello! Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to provide me with. 2 years ago I had a hernia repaired with mesh. The hernia was a result of pregnancy and weak abdominal muscles. I don’t know the term for the hernia type that it was, but it was intestine that had herniated out of a random opening in my muscles, it was not incisional. I am wondering if pregnancy is safe for me, knowing that I would need to have a c-section for this delivery. My obgyn couldn’t provide me with much info because she said she had never faced this situation before. I know the rate of reoccurance is higher but I’m wondering about the safety of the delivery itself.

So it was a Spigelian hernia?
either way Csection shouldn’t be affected

It was not an umbilical hernia. This occurred below my belly button and to the left. It was just above where my previous c-section incisions had been made, but I do recall the surgeon saying that it was not incisional.

Shall I assume you had an umbilical or epigastric hernia in the midline at your belly button or above your belly button?

Pregnancy in those situations are safe. You may have pain or recurrence. Cesarean section is unaffected.
