surgeons with <1% recurrence & chronic pain rate?

Thanks again for your reply. As a non-medical person, I realize there are large gaps in my knowledge â€“ so eg I had to look up â€œstandard of careâ€. Then I looked up “standard of careâ€ hernia repair, & found I had stepped into a controversial area; so Iâ€™ll steer away from that.
As regards the rest, Iâ€™d still be inclined to argue that if chronic pain is at least partly mesh-related [opinions differ there also of course as to the degree], there might still be merit in my idea. Iâ€™m sure you know that there are claims of good results from [synthetic] absorbable mesh; also of better collagen growth than polypropylene mesh. I guess, as with a lot of things in this area, it may be too early to say for sure.
