    Hello,

I might have a recurrent hernia. There is no bulge or anything but I have pain around the same area as my past hernia repair. It started a couple years ago after a lifting injury. I do notice especially when I do any abdominal exercises or exercises that involve the abs, I feel the pain increase a bit. The pain is always there (achy dull), however, when doing these exercises and using my abs and contracting them, the pain increases a bit more. Is this common with hernias — to have increase in pain with abdominal exercises? Does this pain hint to it probably being recurrent? Thanks.

Pain may be related to the repair, a tear, or a recurrence. Examination by your surgeon and then imaging will help.
