I had a right side IH repaired by open procedure, with mesh, about a year ago. Overall, I’m satisfied with the results-I can work on my feet all day and that is criteria I’m interested in. Now I am planning surgery for a left side IH, which developed about five months after my other-side surgery. Is there any reason to think the new surgery will have an impact on the old one? They are on opposite sides of course, but I can’t help but wonder. I haven’t seen this question addressed here, but I imagine other people are wondering the same thing. Thanks for any input.

Thank you for that. My surgeon told me the same thing, but it was a while before I could ask him.

Fixing the new hernia should not affect the previous repair.
    Best wishes.
