  • Bulge after inguinal hernia

Hi everyone, I had a bilateral inguinal hernia repair (robotic/laparoscopic) 7 days ago. Overall recovery is going well, but I still notice a smaller bulge (than original one) in the lower groin area, near where the hernia used to be. It’s a bit smaller than before surgery, not painful, and tends to be less noticeable in the morning and more visible later in the day, especially after walking.

My surgeon mentioned it’s likely post-operative fluid (edema/seroma) and that it should gradually absorb on its own over time.

I was just curious about others’ experiences:

  • Did you have a similar bulge after surgery?

  • How long did it take to fully go away?

  • Did it resolve on its own without intervention?

  • Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
