    Are collagen supplements effective for:

    1. Using while you have inguinal hernias?

    2. Using after you have inguinal hernia surgery, do they help heal the insides?

    3. If so what types as collagen has type 1 and type 3 for skin and type 2 for joints. I would imagine type 1 and 3 would make logical sense for an inguinal hernia?

No. Collagen supplements Do not help hernias or healing. The collagen is denatured once it hits the stomach and so it is not accepted to be useful for any purpose.

Would your response also hold true regarding supplemental hydrolyzed collagen? So much hype online about this being the superior bioavailable collagen you can get. Not to mention super expensive and helps to know it won’t do anything to aid my pre or post hernia surgery.
