Does surgery correct and resolve the symptoms of groin pain and regional discomfort caused by an occult inguinal hernia or hidden femoral hernia?

Is one type of surgery preferred over another if the aim is to resolve hernia pain and symptoms?

Does the preferred surgery method matter if the patient is an athletic male or female?

Does surgery resolve occult hernia pain and symptoms?

Yes absolutely. The main purpose of repairing a hernia is to resolve symptoms.

There is no one repair superior to another. Your surgeon will have that discussion with you and should tailor the repair based on your needs and your surgeon’s practice of preference. The same is true for athletes, male or female.

Yes, if symptoms are due to a hernia, then a hernia repair should fix them. In reality the symptom resolution rate is about 80% because something else may be causing the pain. The type of repair does not seem to matter. It should be whatever your surgeon is most comfortable with. No, it should not matter if they are an athlete.
