  • Dr. Kang’s patients – what about your surgery report?

I like what I read about Dr Kang’s repair, and he has provided a lot of good explanations on this forum. Still, there is no detail on how he does the suturing, beyond the fact it’s a modified Marcy for indirect, and a Bassini-type for direct.

Does Dr Kang supply patients with a surgery report, and how detailed is it?

I’m thinking ahead – if there are any unfortunate lingering pain issues, and you are no longer in Korea and need to consult someone else about it, the more details you have the better. I’ve seen sample reports from other surgeons on this forum. See some wording below I pulled from a few posts to give an idea what I consider a good level of detail. Is there anything close to that kind of detail in Dr Kang’s surgery report, and is it in English or Korean?

SAMPLE report words (for a different surgery type):

    ….neurolysis of the illionguinal nerve…
….neurolysis and neurectomy of the genital branch of the Genitofemoral nerve…
…. an ultrasound-guided ilioinguinal nerve block was performed ……oblique incision was made over the right inguinal canal after infiltrating the skin and was carried down to the external oblique fascia, ……. The cremasteric muscle fibers were split and a long indirect sac was dissected away from the cord structures into the internal ring… The cord structures and lateral bundle of the cremasteric were retracted laterally. …… The posterior wall of transversalis fascia was divided and the posterior preperitoneal fat was dissected posteriorly. The first layer of the ….. repair was begun with …. Prolene suture……the lateral leaflet of the transversalis to the rectus tendon and running this toward the internal ring….. running it back using shelving edge of the inguinal ligament to the internal oblique …. tying at the pubis….. third and fourth row of 2-0 Prolene … to reflect the external oblique over the inguinal floor……….pre-peritoneal lipoma resected…

Calling out some Dr Kang’s patients below, but many are no longer active…. Anyone else, you can also PM me directly if you don’t want to share the detail in the post.

I did not get a surgery report. If I get a recurrence I will go back to his hospital. The surgery will be free. So far after almost three years I have had no issues.
