Femoral Hernia Symptoms
Hello everyone,
An ultrasound indicated I have a right femoral hernia which is partially reducible with fat content.
However, the location of my pain is higher up, where my c section scar is , between the centre of my pelvis and right hip, not in my groin or leg. When I lie down, there is also sometimes some swelling/bulge in this area, but not in my groin or leg. There is no visible bulge anywhere when I am standing.
The pain is aggravated by putting weight on my right leg, pushing with my right leg, walking, pivoting and driving.
Is it possible that this pain could still be from a femoral hernia? Or could there be another hernia? I am considering getting an MRI to get a more definitive answer if that would help.

Thanks Dr Towfigh for your response! Would an MRI with contrast dye be required, or would without contrast dye be be sufficient to show what is going on?

Femoral hernia can be the causes. That said, the quality of hernia ultrasounds is not always great. I have seen ultrasounds that erroneously call an inguinal hernia a femoral hernia, and vice versa. MRI can help clear that up. It will also help identify an incisional hernia (uncommon with C-sections) and other hernias nearby.
