Hernia mesh pain.
I am a 65 year old male and I have been having terrible pain for one year now. I had open left inguinal hernia surgery for a “very small” hernia in April of 2015. A bard mesh was used according to the Kaiser general surgeon that performed the repair. I healed fine and thought I was good. I was able to enjoy most activities but could not go back to riding my Harley because of pelvic floor pain. By January of 2016 I started having pain & inflammation at the surgery site. I had difficulty digesting food (could feel each particle of food passing thru digestive track). Had ct & MRI imaging, plus numerous other tests of upper GI track, blood work, urine tests, checking for rare diseases and trying numerous medications. Nothing was found & nothing helped. But the pain continued to get worse & more bizarre. Left side ringing in ear, horrible fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, especially on my left side. Body chills, and feeling of a hot rod being shoved into the groin & left testicle. Pressure on my left side head and neck. Feeling of fogginess and just not right. I have asked Kaiser to remove the mesh but they will not. They say it would make matters worse. I have no life, I can get downstairs with pain & going up is worse. I was a very active guy who loves the outdoors. Now I am not even able to walk down the street. I am hoping that I will get some relief from Dr. Kevin Peterson. I feel like I have no other option, because I am continuing to get weaker. But trying to make an informed decision with the help of my wife.
