  • Inguinal hernia repair and pain.

    I had an inguinal hernia repair with mesh (open). After surgery, I started to feel strange pains. During arousal i am feeling pain in the groin. I think along the cord.
    What is the reason for this pain ? Vas deference ?? Creamaster muscle? Pudental nerve branches ??
    I searched a little, during sexual arousal, testicle reacts and creamaster muscle contracts. Also the muscular coat of the vas deference contracts. Mesh relation with SC creates this pain. Is this the cause.
    A uro offered spermatic cord denervation-SCD. He mentioned trifecta nerves in the spermatic cord. He said, those nerves are responsible for pain. His offer is to make targetted SCD not full SCD.
    Another Dr. offered cryo ablation of nerves.
    Please advice….

    @surgery
    If your pain is from nerves, then a nerve block with a steroid can be very beneficial. Sometimes neurontin can be helpful.
    If your pain is from the cord being stuck to the mesh, a steroid injection can be helpful.
    Try the injections before proceeding with surgery.
