I’ve had 2 laparoscopies for large ovarian cysts. A few weeks after the first one, I developed a tugging/gnawing/pendulum pain in my left abdomen and a burning, UTI-like sensation vaginally. I had many, many tests but it was not yeast, BV, a UTI, etc. Just “vulvodynia.”

I did a couple years of weekly pelvic floor PT, at which they kept telling me my left pelvic floor was extremely hypertonic. It was somewhat helpful, but gradually over time the PT seemed to make the pain spread to every branch of the pudendal nerve (though this nerve did not originally hurt) — and all the releases never got rid of the hypertonicity long term.

The left side of my groin (hip bone down to pubic bone) burns and certain spots hurt like a very tender bruise when pressed. The left superior pubic ramus in particular burns terribly, but moving the skin around above it has no effect. I had a pelvic MRI and no hernias showed up. I am a thin person and I see no bulges. I also have been told I have hip impingement and arthritis, and my left hip does hurt.

I am in my early 30s and am in no way a super athlete. Massaging the sore abdominal area makes the pelvic floor pain feel better.

I keep asking about hernias but no one seems to think this could be caused by a hernia, though providers all agree I seem to have lots of abdominal scar tissue. Am I crazy to think it could be one?
