Possible occult hernia or just pulled groin?
drtowfigh I’ve been having some unexplainable groin pain on the upper left side that starts a little below where the waistline starts, then goes down along where the “v-line” goes. It’s been going for the past month and a half or so and can’t quite seem to pinpoint what it is. It’s weird because it’s just in that area only. No pain on the right side, no testicular pain or entire groin region pain. I’m hoping Dr. Towfigh would be able to give some insight and anyone else who has dealt with this.
Reason why I post this here is because I know occult hernias are a thing and I know Dr. Towfigh is knowledgable in multiple types of groin pain. so why not give it a shot. There’s no present bulge, not even when I lay down or cough. The pain is daily and is dull and achey, but constant a lot of the time, usually about a 5 on the pain scale for me. Hurts more when I’m stationary and sitting down and I get some relief when I’m walking but do feel a slight tingling sensation throughout my leg. There’s no pain when I cough or sneeze but there is pain when I expand my stomach to take a deep breathe, when I raise my voice and clear my throat. It almost feels like it’s pushing up against a vein (I’m guessing) or something when I do so. I also should note that when I press down on the area, I do feel a cord life structure, not sure what it is because I’m not an expert in anatomy, but when I press on it, it gives the pain I feel.
How it started, I don’t know. I’ve never had surgery in the groin, only an umbilical hernia repaired laparoscopically about six and half months back. I hope it’s nothing more than a muscle tear. My only guess was my old job. I worked in a produce department so it was a lot of heavy lifting and hard labor. It started a little over a month ago when I came back home from work and I had a very sharp pain in the exact area. I took about three and a half weeks off for another reason, and the pain went away somewhat but mostly. Then I went back last week and now it’s back. I just don’t know if a groin strain could happen there, pinched nerve or if it could even be symptoms of an occult hernia.
Any information would help.
