I had my inguinal surgery in October and mesh was used. There were some complications during the surgery involving my colon. She had trouble pushing it (her words) back in. Total time was almost double that of regular hernia procedures. Although I did not have bad post-surgical pain, I still have discomfort at the site, in the inguinal canal and a constant need to go to the bathroom (4-6 times a day). I changed my diet to see if that made a difference. Ate less, etc.. No change. Spams of the lower left abdominal muscles has also been felt frequently as well as testicular pain.

I did hear from other patients about their surgeries but they did not report many of these symptoms. My doctor says to just continue normal activity. If anyone has experienced similar issues, let me know.

    Post Surgery discomfort

Symptoms suggestive of hernia-related or mesh-related pain:
    – discomfort at the site
    – pelvic floor spasm
    – testicular pain

These symptoms are all potentially curable after evaluation by a hernia specialist skilled in evaluating hernia repair-related pain.
