So I’m having my operation in a week for an umbilical hernia. Something I just thought about was that I am normally a stomach sleeper, I find it very hard to sleep on my back. While I know there’s no hard and fast rule, for those that have already had the operation and are stomach sleepers, how long before you were able to sleep on your stomach again?

Start sleeping on your back now. Consider it practice for after your surgery. At least, that’s what I would do

Keep in mind you will be medicated after surgery, so you might find sleeping on your back to be a bit easier than normal.

I had an inguinal hernia repair and have had to back sleep. I usually side sleep. I have actually had.to prop myself up almost in a sitting position in case I have to sneeze or cough. I spend most of my day in a recliner.

    good luck
