Search Engine for Hernia Specialist Near You
Hi there,
I receive about 5-10 emails a week from patients requesting referrals to a hernia specialist near them. This type of need was one of the impetuses for me to start HerniaTalk. As you know, we liberally provide references to local surgeons that can help those of you who are posting, and also those who are just reading.
I am considering starting a separate dedicated site where patients can search for hernia specialists near them. It will include details you can’t find on Yelp or Google, such as which ones will offer non-mesh repairs, laparoscopic repairs, and/or mesh removal surgery.
Thoughts? Would this be helpful? What do you want to see from such a site? -

Hello Dr. Towfigh, Yes, that would be helpful. Also, perhaps the type of repair they offer Desarda, Shouldice, type of sutures. Please keep us informed when you start the site. I know I am very worried about the hernia surgery that I need to have after reading about so many people suffering after mesh repairs and some even having a problem with just suture repairs. I am a woman, and I read somewhere that women are more likely to experience problems with mesh than men. Thank you.
