Hi~ I’m new here. I wish someone can give me some comments or opinion about should or shouldn’t go for incision hernia repair?

On August 2016, I had laparoscopic operation to remove my gallbladder. Unfortunately in December 2016, I had develop a small incision hernia at my belly incision due to not enough rest + lifting alot documents. My Doctor told me my hernia defect still small and maybe not over than 1cm. I have ask few doctors and they told me to do operation as soon as possible while it is still small and dont wait till become big. So I would like to know for my current situation, should I really want go for operation? Any comments and opinion are welcome~ Thanks~

I tell my patients that hernias should be repaired if a) they are painful and/or if b) the hernia is increasing in size.

Otherwise there is no urgency usually.

Also, hernias will all increase in size with time, but thag may not happen for years.
