  • Should I have Mesh Removed

Two months ago I had open inguinal hernia surgery with mesh. Since then, I have the following symptoms that have not got better: Pain under incision and down into groin, mild swelling below incision, surface numbness below incision, testicle pain. The pain is really bad after trying physiotherapy. I can not stand nor walk very long. Ct scan was normal. I consulted with a removal surgeon who said that the mesh might be strangling the spermatic cord and a nerve might be trapped in a suture. He agreed to conduct an exploratory surgery with intent to most likely remove the mesh and possibly neurectomy. Any thoughts?

Get your ops report from the hospital or the surgeon’s office so you know the exact type of mesh that was implanted. I’d tread carefully with removal, I’d wait to see if you improve.

I don’t no what type of mesh. It was an onlay with sutures. The pain is fairly bad and I am in bed most of the days.

2 month seems still too early. I’d wait 6 month. Do you know what type of mesh implemented?
