    Hello,

I posted here several months ago now. Rather than reviving my old thread, which I will link to at the bottom, I decided to go ahead and start a new thread. I am a 36 year old male. So a quick recap is that I experienced an injury over a decade ago to my lower groin area. I felt a pretty painful shooting pain and tearing sensation. The consensus always was that I had a hernia. However, after having many different CT and MRI scans of finding nothing things got complicated. This has caused me some pretty pronounced symptoms that you can read about in my previous post that I linked to.

Last year a doctor finally scheduled an ultrasound and found evidence of a small inguinal hernia. I had one doctor as well as Dr. Towfigh recommend having a dynamic ultrasound as a follow up. I have also been told that they are more commonly referred to as Musculoskeletal Ultrasounds and abbreviated MSK. In case anyone else is reading and having trouble like I did. It took me forever to find a place to actually conduct the ultrasound. One of the reasons is that not only is a proper piece of equipment required but a special staff that knows how to use the equipment to search for an injury.

I just got the results of the dynamic ultrasound back and the doctor went over them with my briefly on the phone. This scan has complimented the original ultrasound and the results are very similar to the original ultrasound in that a small inguinal hernia is suspected. The doctor that I am with now specializes in minimally invasive hernia repair. He is going to have me in his office mid April to discuss where we go from here.

He said he is still very apprehensive about moving forward with the surgery because of the scan is showing such a small hernia and my symptoms being so extreme. However, he said that given my problems persisting he would let me decide if I wish to move forward with the repair. I have been told this same thing by several surgeons. So I feel like I am trapped between a rock and a hard place now because my problems make daily life difficult but not impossible. I really do not wish to worsen my symptoms by having a doctor conduct surgery. I am desperately trying to find a doctor, scan or something that can further in aiding me to making the right decision. So any advice or anyone that may have been in my shoes before with advice would be greatly appreciated.
