I have 2 hernias; umbilical and ventral. I am looking for a general surgeon specializing in hernias. I was hoping to have them via laparoscopic surgery as I read recovery is quicker. Who is the best in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area? And is laparoscopic the best route?

Not sure if Dr Goodyear does this type of hernia surgery or lap style surgery. He is in the Philly area. I would carefully vet any surgeon even if listed on the American Hernia Society. It is a starting point. The doctors on the AHS list in my area are General Surgeons that do very few hernia surgeries each but are quote experts.

There are a few names in the above post “occult hernias in males”.
Dr Meyers at Vincera in Philadelphia
    Dr Boyarsky in New Jersey
You can also check The American Hernia Society website.

Hopefully Dr Towfigh can chime in here.
