Hello, I was wondering if all groin hernia repair techniques require splitting of the oblique muscle?

I read that robotic simple suture repairs can be done, and that laparoscopic ones are harder…it was mentioned here in this forum…
The external oblique muscle is also split in open repairs even if it is only suturing?

The open techniques require that the external oblique muscle to be split to allow adequate exposure.
The laparoscopic techniques do not.
