Surgery after incisional hernia mesh repair
If you’ve had mesh implanted in your abdominal wall, surgery through it can be tricky. There is risk of injuring underlying intestine, infecting the mesh, and hernia recurrence. Your surgeon should be made aware that you’ve had a prior hernia repair with mesh. Also, it is good to know which type of mesh was placed. It may determine plan of care by your surgeon.
