    In a mesh removal, by foreign body reaction, with systemic symptoms (suspected Asian syndrome).

    What is the material of the surgical thread that should be used to sew peritoneum and other parts? is it possible to have a reaction to the thread or is it too small and would not cause a reaction?

    @brunog
    I agree with Dr. Towfigh, I have never heard of sutures causing an autoimmune response. If the patient is at very high risk for an autoimmune response then absorbable sutures can be used.

    It would be very rare to have a systemic reaction to suture material. They are not enough foreign body to mount such a MJ autoimmune or inflammatory reaction.
