According to my operative report, sutures of -20 interrupted Prolene were used in the pubic symphysis and the shelving edge of the inguinal ligament and internal oblique. This is where I have chronic pain. Is this a likely culprit and if so can they be removed? Thanks for your response.

Suture is no more difficult to remove than mesh.

Difficulty of surgery is not related to time

Well I don’t have anything to add to this but I am curious about a response. We do see people talking about removing mesh when they get in pain, but sutures would be more difficult, right? Such is my hesitation about non-absorbable sutures.

In my case, it seems removing the sutures would be the first thing to rule out

before doing anything more drastic. It probably isn’t an easy task after 12 years. Is this something you or other surgeons could/would do? Thanks so very much for helping.

    Can’t say for sure. Possible.
