Tissue only surgeons in Switzerland?
Posted by Alephy on March 26, 2020 at 3:00 amAs in the subject, can someone recommend a surgeon in Switzerland who does tissue repairs?
Preferably one who would go for a tailored approach, with the possibility to go for a specific procedure rather than just saying, “Shouldice no matter what type”…Is it possible?

The diagnosis was of a small direct inguinal hernia…it was not clear or conclusive for the left side or umbilical. As to why Shouldice would not be an option it was not mentioned. From the reading I did I would say I am the perfect candidate for a tissue repair given weight and physical condition. I did say though that I do martial arts so I don’t know whether this prompted the mesh option based on the idea that it would sustain better stress….I would think the opposite but what do I know

Dr. Hunkeler is skilled in Shouldice repair, but I’m not sure he’ll do it under any circumstances.
Even in Shouldice Hospital, they do a mesh sometimes, maybe 1-2%. Perhaps in your case he considered a mesh a better option.

I already spoke to Dr. Hunkeler, but he considered only mesh in our discussion. But I can definitely say he gave me the impression of being very skilled and thorough (in fact of all the doctors I saw he is by far the be most competent by a great length)

Dr. Hunkeler is a very nice surgeon who trained in Shouldice and who’ll do a tissue repair under general anesthesia.
He’s very competent, communicative and honest.
Only problem really are very high medical costs in Switzerland, unless you can have a good refund.
