Will sutures hold up with heavy weight lifting?
So I have a bilateral inguinal hernia, it’s reducible, small, and fat containing so my surgeon said he can do open non-mesh if I would like. I was leaning towards that but after more reading some people have said that open tissue repair for bilateral hernias is too much tissue and nerve damage and a laparoscopic with mesh would be better as it’s less invasive. Is this true? Also, if I were to go the suture route, how well would it hold up when living an active lifestyle with heavy weight lifting? Would mesh be ideal for that?
