Watchful. Thanks as always for your input. The best on the page. I am in kind of a mess. Having had double mesh removal makes things worse. I have a bad dull ache on the right side where carvajal found a small direct hernia. I had pain there prior to surgery and it went away after mesh. With mesh removed it’s back. So I suspect the hernia i…[Read more]

When I mention to my family that I am considering going to korea to have Dr. Kang fix a possible new hernia…everyone i know is in disbelief. That’s crazy! Dont do it! What if something goes wrong??? Well I can tell you that the best way for something to go wrong is to go to a US surgeon. I thought a comparison of my experience so far with…[Read more]

Good intentions…thanks for posting. Can you comment on the strength you feel you have after removal? Can you lift weights, ride a bike> hike? curious if you have been tiptoeing around like a porcelain doll to avoid doing any more damage…and what you feel your longterm prognosis is…

Also special thanks to Dr. Twofigh for running this forum….without this forum patients would be hopelessly lost..her interviews with surgeons and other experts also very valuable.if i had found this forum I know i would never ever have allowed lap surgery to maim me.

Only downside to Kang is he will likely retire soon though he says he wants to work another 10 years. Anyone that went to Kang know anything about his son? I understand his son is taking up the mantle…but who knows how long it will take him to reach the status of his father.

Folks i continue to recover from double mesh removal. But in preparation for recurrances I would like to identify the absolute best and most versatile surgeon in the world. As our friend Watchful has so eloquently related…you might pick the best surgeon at a certain technique…only to find that once surgery begins that technique may not be…[Read more]

and sorry Dr. B is Dr. Belyanksy…fantastic humble surgeon…his only downside is he still thinks plastic junk is perfectly safe despite removing it over 200 times.

Sorry for publishing this in the public forum..but the messaging feature on this site is really flakey. To the individual who messaged me regarding TAR removal – i tried to respond but again not sure if it got through on this flakey messaging feature. I will enclose my personal email below. One of the reasons i chose lap mesh surgery is because dr towfigh and dr voeller cited numerous studies showing that lap mesh resulted in the lowest rates of chronic pain. Sadly this was incredibly deceptive because it seems true without all the cutting. I saw some studies showing shouldice had 26 percent long term chronic pain risk…and several…[Read more]

also gotta love that Dr, kANG found a hernia and didnt try to fix it…contrast with my crook surgeon carvajal who found a hernia…with zero probing and diagnostics and decided to “fix” it even though there was not bulge and the pain was minor.

Alan thanks so much for your input…I am very depressed that i did not know much about Kang…i have this constant dull ache on my right side but no bulge. Did you have visible bulges on both sides? I feel confident its a hernia because the mesh resolved the pain and it only returned with mesh removal. Just curious–nearly every doctor i…[Read more]

Hope you on the mend from the kang repair…i think you picked the best doc in the world… would love to hear any thoughts you have on Dr. Kangs diagnostic skills….did you know for sure you had two hernias when you flew to korea? I have a direct hernia that might have returned..pain but no bulge…

Watchful thanks so much…you are the dean of the board…a guy after my heart and fanatical researcher. Hernia diagnosis is tough business. I didnt know this when my POS surgeon Carvajal put his finger on me for two seconds and concluded i had a hernia. Several other surgeons prodded and pushed and could not come to any conclusion…saying…[Read more]

Thanks Watchful…always appreciate your thoughts. I didnt have a bulge the first time when Carvajal…without any imaging at all diagnosed a small hernia. The op report said it was a small direct hernia. The pain on that side went away after the mesh was placed but has now returned with removal. So I suspect a return of the hernia. All the…[Read more]

Thx watchful. My case is not that different on the left side I had a large indirect that was heading into the scrotum. It started small and I waited 4 years to fix it. Big mistake. So far it hasn’t recurred. But the pain on the right is daily. The exact type of pain I had pre mesh surgery. Only worse. So unless carvajal was a total liar a good p…[Read more]
