• Two recent reviews of the overall state of hernia repair – counterpoints

  I found these two articles on Google Scholar. They seem like objective looks at the current state of hernia repair, one from 2018 and one from now. They address the question of the efficacy of laparoscopic methods, and the use of robotics. Basically, pointing out that there are no clear advantages to either. They both seem like “good ideas” but the data is not supporting the supposed benefits. Yet the methods continue to make inroads. Why would that be? “Cookie cutter” approach seems apt for mesh implantation via lap. The same technique for all types of inguinal hernias.

  I’m not trying to offend. People who should know much more than I do are raising these questions, in well-respected journals. Why?
