95% absorbable mesh surgery ???
Hi, newbie here to the wonderful world of hernias 🙂 69 year old senior athlete. Very very physically active until the hernias, maybe too active? Just diagnosed/confirmed that I have an inguinal hernia, described small to moderate, golf ball sized. Dr also found an umbilical cord area hernia which didn’t bother me at all but was told it could grow in futre so maybe better to fix it too, at the same time.
My likely choice after researching was the Desarda technique (non-mesh) BUT just found another strong possibility. The Desarda first seemed without negatives but got an opinion that it relies on a strong external oblique aponeurosis to serve as a patch for the inguinal floor (I found that previously). The additional info was that sometimes the surgeon gets in there and finds a weak or torn one, which makes for a much less successful outcome (hadn’t thought about the what if)
— any experience with a robotic repair WITH Ovitex 95% absorbable suture hybrid mesh???
Robotic seems to help with minimal recovery and Ovitex 95% absorbs and it does not rely on condition of your “innards”.Any experience with this Ovitex with robotic technique? It seems like it very well might be the best of both methods.
Thank youI am appalled at the difficulty in finding something other than traditional mesh surgery ??????
Seems like only a handful in the US 🙁
