I’ve read all forums here regarding suture type pertaining to marcy and shouldice repairs for inguinal herinias. It seems like a ni brainier to go with Non-absorbable as it only decreases your chances for a recuurrance. Read some of these war stories with absorbable sutures, I’d rather take some added pain from inflammation over the long term than have the hernia come back. Expecially with the marcy repair…if it is a genetic disorder and you close the ring with absorbable stitches seems like a matter of time before the generic defect just reopens that ring again. Permanent suture would only lower this chance.

    Thoughts?
