Bilateral inguinal: tissue or lap
Has anyone had bilateral tissue repair (at the same time, not spaced apart by years)? What is the recovery like given there is not a “good side” to favor when moving? One tissue surgeon told me it hurts initially twice as much and there are two chances at ongoing pain, another said not much different than unilateral. Yet another said if he had unilateral himself he’d get a tissue repair but with bilateral he’d favor laparoscopic surgery. I’m familiar with the potential complications and of course worried about mesh, but I also understand the vast majority of Lap patients do well, especially with a good hernia specialist rather than just a general surgeon. Thoughts? Dr Towfigh?
