Bruising on hip and side 1 week after surgery
I got no-mesh right inguinal hernia repair a week ago. (Basically a Shouldice without steel sutures.) Will do a full post about my experience at the two week mark. Overall it’s been OK, but I was curious if bruising On the right side over the hip and along the right belly area is normal? It’s starting to yellow and not painful, but a bit surprised since that’s far from the incision…. just curious if anyone else had this.

Thanks guys! Makes me feel better. I assume it’s similar for bruising on the upper right thigh next to the groin. Seems like some of the draining is going there.
Just started getting brief twinges of hot pain on the pubic mound…not too worried yet. Ice seems to take care of it. -
This is very common. Not surprising. You could even be my non-steel suture Shouldice hernia repair from last week that sent me pictures of the exact scenario you are describing.

That sounds very normal. It’s not unusual for bruising to expand well beyond the surgical area.
