I had a similar experience. The imaging didn’t show anything. Blood tests showed nothing. Urologist said he had never heard of mesh-related problems. Too much dependence on the bureaucracy and not enough plain-old being a doctor.
I know you’re in the wrong part of the country but if you can find somebody who has successfully solved a mesh problem you’ll be better off. It’s just not taught in medical school or residency. Most don’t know what to do about it.
In my case, the mesh inflammation caused several secondary problems. The body’s response to inflammation is more like a shot-gun than a rifle.

I’ll post my lab results later.Tired, just spent 14 hours in the hospital. But…a very clean bill of health. I had a cat scan along with blood work and urine tests.
It showed I had a few prostate stones(calcification).Upon further research I found that they can cause UTI symptoms exactly like I have.
My prostate is 4.5cm in diameter.I did state that I have mesh. The cat scan technician stated my hernia areas looked normal from what he could tell.

When it rains it pours.I am in the process of moving. My trip to FastMed Urgent care was a waste. A week later I didn’t receive a call back about the urine culture.
When I called they said they forgot. Great. So, I still have a burning when the bladder fills up.But no burning while urinating. No excessive urinating,no cloudy, bloody urine or smelly urine.
Some days are better than others. But since I am having hernia recurrence symptoms(tightness mainly time to time) I can’t help but think mesh/hernias are to blame.
So I will get to the ER this Friday since my appointment with my PCP is two months away which is just a general check up anyway.
My BP,resting heart rate,BMI, and everything else is good to pass a DOT physical for my CDL.
I’ll update when I know.
My question: Is it a possibility that the mesh has eroded into the bladder? I have read multiple stories of it happening but how realistic is it?
Thanks

Just got back. No UTI. Prostate good as well. Doctor said could be from not enough water intake. Which has been the case with me. So I’ll drink more and cut back on the caffeine.

Scratch this thread. I am going across the street from me to an urgent care clinic for the so called bladder issue.Just a waste of time trying to get anywhere at a hospital for hernia issues. I know what needs to be done. And I WILL get it. Thanks anyway.

I am to attend/finish school this fall. But I need to at least see if possible where my mesh is at. If not I will keep going to school and try and work with this. Medicaid will be taken away when I start school…..even as poor as I am….lol.

Sorry about all the small posts… anything more it flags it as spam.

Intial pain started 6 months ago….and still remains here and there as stated above. Enough to know either the mesh might be damaged or just a really bad strain or new hernias or possibly a combination.
I have state,Medicaid insurance. Can’t afford any other kind at the moment. If…..if I can finish school and work without this killing me I can afford an insurance Dr. Towfigh accepts.

I believe I have recurrence. Pins and needles from the incisions to the feet, sharp pain from incisions to knee areas, once in a great while sharp pain in testicles. But I know these could be regular symptoms due to the nature of the beast. I did strain my hernias a couple of weeks ago from carrying too much from the store.Still strained.
Bladder type pain started 3 days ago.

quote Good intentions:It would probably help you to re-summarize your problem. You have 34 posts to look back through, plus things might have changed since you originally posted, like your bladder problems. I can’t remember if you have a confirmed recurrence or if you think that you might have a recurrence.
Good luck.
Great….I just posted a long reply.Noticed it had wrong spelling and went to correct it.When I did it said it was flagged as spam. I’ll try again when I can.

It’s been 6 months since I strained my inguinal hernias and the symptoms that still remain are the pins and needles from the waist down, sharp pains here and there in the incision areas and to the knee, once in awhile shap testicle pain(but more and more rarely now).
The bladder type pain started 3 days ago.For the past two weeks though I’ve strained my inguinal hernias from carrying too much from the store that’s across the street from me. Not bad but somewhat heavy. At least enough to strain(lower abdomen strain like a pulled muscle that goes to the incision then stops)
So maybe it’s some kind of a strain overall. No, I haven’t been able to find a PCP yet. There’s either a waiting list or I’ve been told to see a specialist.
I believe I have a hernia recurrence. At the moment I have state insurance (Medicaid) and can’t afford any other type of insurance.

Also, does anyone else here live in Tucson AZ? I don’t have transportation so I am stuck with local doctors. All they tell me here is that I need to see a hernia specialist such as Dr. Towfigh just to even see what’s wrong.
