Desarda and the shutter mechanism
I don’t understand groin anatomy very well. I looked around for more about the “shutter mechanism” and found a paper from 2017 by Desarda himself. He has his own theory of the cause of hernias, based on the components that make up the internal ring, and refers back to work by people like Bendavid and others. It might help those people here that do understand the anatomy understand the basis for Desarda’s method of repair.

CONCLUSION
The posterior wall of the inguinal canal is a bilayer structure
composed of the transversalis fascia and the aponeurotic
extensions. The aponeurotic extension in the posterior wall of
the inguinal canal is the real factor that gives strong and dynamic
protection from the herniation. The present study endorses that
person having no full cover of the aponeurotic extensions in its
posterior wall are prone to develop inguinal hernia.
