    Hi,
I’ve been off the site for a while because of other health problems but back on July 3, 2017 I finally had my surgery done to remove the permanent sutures by my belly button that were causing me pain and pulling all the time. For those that don’t remember, I had suffered for months with terrible pelvic pain. Especially on the lower right and more so after bowel movements. I remember having severe pain after a forceful bowel movement as a result of taking too much calcium. That’s when it all started. After 7 months, I was finally diagnosed with an incarcerated femoral hernia and had it repaired. They put in a mesh. They also found a small hernia by my belly button and repaired it with permanent sutures. That where i had a problem with suture rejection and tugging pain. They finally removed those sutures 9 months after the original surgery! The relief was immediate as I no longer had that pulling and tugging pain with every movement or throbbing pain that continued all day. fast forward to this week. I got a flu about 2 weeks ago and although still recovering from the muscle and joint pain from that I developed a head cold and all the sneezing that goes along with it. About 6 days ago I sneezed so hard that although I braced myself, I felt pain in the same are as where the sutures were removed. I had pretty intense pain all day and had to take something for it that night. I have continued daily pain in the same area at 6 days after the fact. It is a deep ache. Something is not right! I discussed with my regular doctor when I went in for this viral thing and he said I have to go back to my hernia doctor. I told him that I didn’t want to go back to him so he gave me the name of someone else. Right now I am in so much post viral pain….fibro and fatigue….that I couldn’t get anything done anyway but I know it has to be checked. Am I crazy? Can this be happening again? I am at a loss here……………

Thank you for your response. I wasnt able to get in sooner for dr Goodyear but they put me on he call list for a cancellations. The local hernia dr is on vacation until wed. they made me an appointment for that day. I also called the Vincera Institute as some else on this site recommended them. They are in Philadelphia a little over an hour from me. Dr Meyers doesn’t take my insurance but his young associate does. I am not sure if I will go there. It would be a 2 week wait anyway but they deal with a lot of core injuries and would be able to tell me if it’s that or hernia. They are going to call me back tomorrow after they speak with someone clinical.
The pain is so bad. I am wearing a support belt all day. The pain is in the front and going around to the back. This all starts when I sneezed! This is crazy! Can this be a sprain that it hurts so bad? I would hate to have another surgery but can’t stay like this. I am praying that it will get better but so far I am not even able to go out because of the intense pain! I can’t believe that I can’t get a doctor around here to see me. I don’t want to go back to my surgeon and hear him tell me I’m nuts. I need someone who knows how to diagnose to see me.

Hi. I would like to throw in another top quality hernia surgeon to consider. Dr. Igor Belyanski in Annapolis MD. He is definitely worth a consult. If you are located in a different state you can send any docs/tests/scans to him to review. He is a expert in reading cat scans. I can’t remember if you have had any tests-if not you get a scan done if you have gotten a scan you can request a CD copy of the scan and send it to dr. Igor Belyanski.
and see what he has to say.
i nbke this is not a mesh issue since you had it repaired with no mesh but I wanted to add that dr. Belyanski was the only surgeon after 5 years and numerous tests that my mesh was folded on a cat scan and I had the mesh successfully removed. He is now doing quite a few removals and I have been in touch with others who have had there mesh successfully explanted after suffering in pain.
It takes a highly skillled surgeon to successfully remove mesh and 99.9% of surgeons who implant mesh can’t remove it-so I’d seek his opinion as he is a expert in the abdomen/groin area. Hope this helps.

Went to the ER and it’s now 2:30am and the dr just came in to say CT scan was ok. He said it could be a sprain as he didn’t feel
or see any bulge but to follow up with the surgeon. So stressed and such pain. My belly is so swollen. It got that way more so after dinner and then drinking IV contrast. I don’t know what to think anymore. This all started after all that sneezing 10 days ago and just got worse every day.
Earlier today I started to get back lower back pain and front pain that I had to wear a support brace. The same neoprene one that I wore after my last surgery. Maybe the back pain was from not walking straight because of the pain. Going home now…not sure what tomorrow will bring or what I should do.

Just got back from my local expert. He feels is is a tear and wait to see what happens in six months. Not really reduce activities but avoid movements like in soccer, tennis or hockey.

I trust Dr Goodyear but I hope other chime in here so you get more feedback on Dr Goodyear. I would have had surgery done by him but I had a place to recover in FL.

Good luck to you and let us know what he says.

No, I am in the Midwest, I am in a city with according to the hospital on of the best in the nation facilities. I met with Goodyear, Ramshaw and Yunis about 5 years ago before making my decision to go to Fl for my second surgery. I also had lengthy talks with Dr G in Cleveland and Peterson.

Funny I am in his site right now. I contacted him last year and they wouldn’t see me because it was not yet a year since my 10/20/2016 hernia surgery. So, I consulted with someone else who told me to just have my initial surgeon remove the sutures that we’re causing me a problem. I did that 7/3/17. Sutures remived and nothing else out in. Doctor said it was small and I would heal
ok so he didn’t out anything. He just used disposable sutures. Oh well….so here I am now with problems again after a bad flu and sneezing!
I think they’ll see me now as it’s more than a year since the original surgery. I was just reading about tension free mesh used in the umbilical and Paraumbilical area.
I am sending them an email now through the website.
    Thanks

You are not that far from Philly. Dr Goodyear, has done something like 15,000 hernia surgeries and fixing others mistakes, great guy and takes time with you.. Sports hernia Dr Meyer also from Philly.

I think I have, only 2,200 miles away! Thanks

Does anyone know a top hernia specialist in central NJ or even NYC? I would travel to NYC for a top doctor. I need to have this evaluated and don’t think I want to go back to the dr who did the previous surgeries.
    Thanks
