  • How do I check if surgeon preserves the anatomy?

Hi there everyone. I have one very important question about indirect bilateral hernia surgery. I’ve been watchful waiting for a while now but I am keeping my options open.

One question that I am curious open is — if I would ever have a mesh surgery what kind of questions should I ask the surgeon about “preserving the anatomy”, which I learned means things like not cutting the cremaster muscle.

Are there any other things I should ask questions about? If the options would be laparoscopic or open which one is the most likely to be the least anatomically impactful? I hope my question makes sense as my knowledge of the anatomy of the inguinal canal and surrounding muscles is quite weak (just like my inguinal wall haha), but I am willing to learn.
