Inguinal Hernia repair surgeons in VA or NC
Anyone here have personal experience with inguinal hernia repair surgeons in VA or NC? I need bilateral inguinal hernia repairs and have met with Dr. T. Pappas at Duke University. He recommended laparoscopic repair with mesh and tacks. I’m somewhat leery about tacks and chronic pain, but understand it’s the surgeon and their technique and he appears to be one of the best surgeons at Duke, that’s why I decided to see him, but am willing to consult with another as I am in the watchful waiting stage and have some time to make a decision.

In today’s world “best” often means highest throughput. That’s what healthcare is focused on.
If you can, you might try to contact Dr. Heniford or Dr. Matthews at Atrium Health. They are both aware of the problems with mesh and not afraid to acknowledge them. They’ve been on the hernia meeting presentation circuit. They might have some good advice.
