  • Laparoscopy means no indirect IH pure tissue repair?

I am wondering, if one goes for laparoscopic surgery, and they find the inguinal hernia to be indirect, can they there and then decide to not use any mesh and “stitch” up the inguinal ring only?

Or is it the case that once in laparoscopically only mesh can be used?

    Thanks for the link!
I am wondering on how long it will take for this to be “common practice”….is it something that will become mainstream in the years to come, together with the Robotic approach?

I believe only a few surgeons right now are capable of doing any kind of tissue repair laparoscopically, behind the muscle. And I believe there are some potential pitfalls with that. Dr. Towfigh I think can do it, and she mentioned one or two others.
