  • Looking for hernia repair specialist in the Dallas, Texas area

I am recovering from an emergency surgery due to a bowel obstruction caused by a hernia. This is my second hernia repair (both with mesh)- my first one was two and a half years ago and it was not an emergency. My situation is a little complex and I need to find a good doctor that actually specializes in abdominal hernia repair in case this happens again. I’m not sure really what to do because if it does happen again and it’s an emergency, I don’t want to get just any general surgeon that is on call at the hospital. I’m trying to have a specialist and a plan. Also, how do I go about getting the information of exactly what was done during the operation ( what kind of mesh,etc.). I saw the surgeon for a follow up, but he really didn’t give me detailed info. Should I contact the hospital for a surgical report? Any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m so glad I just have to deal with the hospital and not the surgeon’s office! 🙂

Thanks, again! I have to go to the hospital and fill out a form, pay $5.00, and then I can get a copy of the post op report.

Thank you. I will check out the hospital website and then decide about contacting the hospital directly or if I will contact the surgeon’s office.

The hospital should have your surgery details, or the surgical center if they sent you to one. Many places do everything on line now, you just fill out a form. The surgeon would not likely be involved in that, the front office people would. You can probably find something on the hospital web site or find out with a phone call to the hospital. It’s usually free and should be simple to get done.
