Mesh debate in the United Kingdom Parliament
I just found this interesting transcript from the UK. Everyone is reading from the same internet I think. Vast majority, mesh is recommended, people who had a good repair recommend it even after they hear the stories and see the numbers. Objectivity is hard. At least they are discussing it. I would guess though that the same outside influences are at work to control the narrative.
I am going to see if I can find out more about followup from this introduction. I don’t know much about how Parliament works.

No one from the specialty societies for hernia (EHS, EAES) wee involved.

You mean only general doctors were involved? Or just statisticians? As for the animal testing (which makes me shudder) animal behaviour such as normal movement will be impaired by pain….in any case it is clear that these implants should be thoroughly tested BEFORE being used! Personally I would also make the penalty/ fines for breach of conduct much more severe! To the point of making any fraud a penal crime ie people from the responsible companies should go and stay in jail

Perhaps measurements of unacceptably high inflammatory reactions would be a proxy for such? But in general, I agree.

Effective May 2020, the European Commission has reclassified mesh as high risk and all companies must show animal data to support use of their products.
