Pain comes and goes.
Posted by SomeGreyBIoke on July 17, 2018 at 12:55 pmCan inguinal hernia pain go with long periods of rest ( a couple of months ), just for it to come back again after gentle exercise again? I have been resting and mainly walking since May, and pain was nearly gone, but came back after quarter of mile gentle jog yesterday. I have been diagnosed with a small 1/2 cm inguinal hernia.

quote routern7:are you sure Dr Muschaweck is there? I sent email and they said she left.
Apparently, maybe, she left to start something new. Somebody just posted about it. It looks very promising.

Yes, inguinal hernia related pain can be activity related. That’s a common finding. Not every hernia causes pain. Those that do are worse with standing, sitting, bending, and best when lying flat.

Dr. Muschaweck is still active in Germany. Her skills seem to fit your needs. She might have an explanation for your pain also. I think that she avoids using mesh if possible, and also removes it when appropriate. If I was in Europe she would be my starting point.

Feels like stabbing pains on top of the inguinal canal, very concentrated. I was virtually pain free, this is a massive setback to me as due to other health issues anxieties are very high. I have had another operation in the pelvic area back in January.
I wen to see a surgeon some time ago, and he was very keen to perform laparoscopic repair with a plastic mesh, am a bit reluctant to have it done for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only option here in UK. I have found a couple of hospitals in Europe who can operate using biological meshes, but don’t want to have any unnecessary operations done if this is not a cause of my pains.
Could a small inguinal hernia be that painful? Can gentle exercise like jogging aggravated it, and if I give it time and rest, would that go away again?
Thank you kindly.
