Stumbled into a new paper by drtowfigh and some of her colleagues, it is titled “Step-by-step guide to safe removal of pre-peritoneal inguinal mesh” by Dr Adam Truong, Dr Badr Saad Al-Aufey, and Dr Shirin Towfigh.

    quote :

    “As pre-peritoneal inguinal mesh implantation becomes more popular, surgeons may be seeing more patients with complications who may require mesh removal. We provide a detailed step-by-step approach with video to serve as a guide to surgeons who are planning for safe removal of pre-peritoneal inguinal hernia mesh.”

    https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00464-018-6558-5

    This is obviously meant for other doctors and surgeons, but it may be helpful for patients as well.

    Thanks to drtowfigh for continuing research and good work on these critically important topics.

    drtowfigh Dear Dr Thank You! for your expert opinion…I think everyone here would agree with your word “Sometimes ” but unfortunately it became common way to repair…like one tool fits All:}}}

    The outcomes from robotic non-mesh inguinal hernia repair are likely not as good as mesh repair or open non-mesh repair. It’s a decision and compromise we make when placing mesh is considered not a good idea at the time. Everything is a balance of risks and benefits. And there are risks with each surgical option. So sometimes the better decision is mesh repair or hybrid mesh repair and not tissue repair.

    Boy !!! why they put mash in the first place if they need to take it out and be able to fix it somehow..with out mesh.,. . ..Can you ONLY IMAGINE WHAT DAMAGE it is done to surrounding TISSUES and nerves..

    Dear Doctor drtowfigh please let us know if it possibly very accurate {according to video} to remove mesh with robot ..why you can’t reliably to perform ROBOTIC no mesh surgery ….i assume once doctor remove mesh {on video } they must stitch everything together without mesh anyway?
