Possible third hernia repair
Hi.
I was hoping someone could advise me..
I had my first hernia repair in February 2018,it was an epigastric, and It was repaired without mesh, my recovery went well, with only a small scar.
Then late in that same year whilst painting my toenails, I had a severe pain, and after a gp visit and a scan they found 2 more hernias, I was told it would be repaired by mesh this time and I had the surgery in March of this year, the surgeon visited me after the surgery and I was told they dident use the mesh as he dident feel it was necessary, the scar was much bigger this time and has left a small bulge, recovery was long and I said never again!
Well this week whilst stretching in the bath, the awful pain was back, and I know it’s another one, the pain is similar to before, saw my gp yesterday, but she couldent feel anything, and told me to come back if things dident improve and I’d be refereed for another scan, I’m still in pain, so will go back.
My question here is will they Want to operate again? It’s obvious this surgery isent working, and to go through it all again for no longer than 6 months, would the mesh of been more successful.. I was told the skin is very thin in this area.
Im a 52 year old healthy female, and this is affecting my life now, hope someone can advise, thanks
