Hello, I had a laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery 18 days ago. A mesh and absorbable tackers were placed. Sometimes I still experience very severe pain, but it improves with painkillers. I am worried that the tackers in the abdominal wall may have caused nerve damage.

What is the difference between nerve damage and nerve irritation? How does the pain differ between the two?

If the worst-case scenario happens, what should I do? Should the tackers be removed, or should I try a nerve block?

Also, is it normal that even though it has been 3 weeks since the surgery, I still feel severe pain for about an hour every day?

18 days is early to worry too much about long-term effects.

When does the one hour of pain occur? Early, after waking, or late, at the end of a day?

Today was a lot better, burning pain came maybe twice it was short termed. Im guessing absorbable tacks is irritating the nerves. I hope it gets better soon but one day the pain is bad then next day i feel a lot better. I think its normal
